checkout line
Yesterday I was at the store with my little girl while the oldest was a preschool. I tell you this because that means I was more relaxed. Otherwise I'm sure this incident wouldn't have happened. At the checkout I found my checker to be very grumpy. She was just radiating hate. I have been a checker and I know that sometimes it can get boring but "Wow" this girl was upset about her lot in life. My first reaction, I am sorry to say, was just to try and get out of there as soon as possible. I was starting to feel angry to. I started to feel mad at her for being huffy and making my morning bad. Then something changed for me and I had a new thought. . . "What if I stoped reflecting her emotion back and gave her a new one?" I started talking to her and asked her about her work and if she had to work "Black Friday." I tried to show her sympathy and kindness. By the end of our short conversation she was laughing a little bit and said a courteous "good-bye" to me. It was amazing. I walked away feeling that, even though I would probable be at home the rest of the day with my kids, I had at least put something good out in the world that day.

Say it.
Sometime last year I decided to never suppress a complement. Whenever I see someone in the store or church or somewhere and I think a nice thing about them I force myself out of my "comfort zone" and say it. Sometimes they are just random things like: "Your hair is so beautiful." "I like your bag." "What a nice shirt." But sometimes its a "Thank you" for something they said or did. It has really changed me. Try it for a week. Simple tell everyone you see the nice things you're thinking about them. It does no good if you keep those things to yourself. However, do keep it to yourself if you think something mean. :) Never suppress a complement. Share it and the world will be the better for it.
H1N1
I am just as scared of H1N1 as any other Mother but I don't think I am going to get the shot this year. I always make sure my whole family gets their flu shots each year but this year I just don't know. I'm worried about whats been said about the vaccinations being developed to fast. What do you think?

Sick and Strong
What do you do when you're sick? I used to stay in bed and read a book or watch T.V. Now I can't do that. I still have to get my four year old to and from preschool , make lunch, clean the bathroom, play duck duck goose, wash the dishes, play "Candyland", throw something together for dinner and the list goes on and on. Thankfully, I haven't been feeling as bad the last two days as I did the first of the week and my kitchen is starting to recover. I've decided to "count it as a win" that my oldest was still on time to school today even though my two year old was still in her PJs again. I guess you have to let some unimportant things slide so you can still take care of what has to be done.
Being a mom has made me feel strong. Though this Motherhood experience I found I'm more capable than I thought I was. After I had my first I was like shocked. "I did it. I had a baby." Ever since then I've been happy in the thought. . . If I did that I'll be able to do pretty much anything. I just say to myself. "Hey! Buck-up Little Camper. You had a baby! You can handle this."

When Mama ain't happy. . .
So Mama ain't happy. I'm feeling sick. It is just a little cold but I haven't been sick in a while and I forgot how much I hate it. I can't think strait and my house is a mess. The kitchen is as messy as its ever been.
Its true that when you are a mom you are the glue of the family. Mothers really hold everything together. When I'm sick I can't make everything flow like it needs to and then the whole family is out of sorts.
This morning when I dropped my oldest off at preschool her little sister had to ride in the car still wearing her pajamas. Well, at least my oldest was dressed.

Homemaker?
The other day when I was cleaning up after dinner my husband was filling out the insurance forms we received from his new job. He asked me what he should put for my profession. "Should I put Homemaker?" I don't know why but I suddenly felt very strongly about that word. I said "No. A homemaker is someone who works in construction. I am a Mother."
I do understand the thoughts behind the word homemaker. Homemaker is meant to be a good word describing someone who makes "just a house" into a home. I respect that. However, I feel like many different people do that. Single or Marred, a man or a woman make wherever they live into their home. All people tend to personalise were they live and keep it how they want. I have done that and will continue to make my house into my home.
My profession, what I have chosen to be the focus of my life, is being a Mother. The pay is not in money but still I would say it is good. What could be of more worth then the pure love of a child?

Green
My oldest daughter simply loves the color green. Much of my world has started to revolve around the color. She wants to be a ballerina for Halloween. Know anyone with a green tutu?

The-Women-in-Our-Lives
I am all for Motherhood but its hard.
I'm all for Motherhood but sometimes its hard. Scratch that. Motherhood is hard most of the time but I believe that it is worth it. I am a mother of two little girls and although I love it I would say that the birthday of my second daughter was the worst day of my life. The worst day of my life. However, it was also one of the best days because "hey" I just accomplished something amazing. I even got the best prize for that accomplishment. A healthy baby. That sounds a little "hallmark cardish" but I know that it is true. Even though it was my worst day I know my child birthing experience could never compete with the other horror stories I've heard. I wont tell you my story because like I said it is pathetic in comparison but I will tell you that it had nothing to do with genetics and all to do with a nurse that was new to the job. I hold no grudges though. I respect all people in the medical field who are honestly doing their best and I understand that people need to learn. I've just decided that I don't want them to learn on me.
